About Me

My name is Kimberly Tenhor and I am a masters candidate in biblical studies at Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL.

This blog is the result of a Bible project for my Old Testament History class in the fall of 2017 with Dr. James Coakley.  Through it I intend to share not only my project (The Character of God as Revealed in the Law), but also other things I have learned or are still learning by studying the Word of God, as the Lord prompts me to.

My beliefs align with the Apostle's Creed and the Westminster Confession of Faith.  I believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant, authoritative Word of God in its original languages. By that I mean all translations are in fact subjective interpretations, some more literal than others (always read the introduction to a translation to understand why and to whom those authors wrote that translation).  God is the ultimate author of every word written by many authors over many centuries as guided by His Holy Spirit (1 Tim 3:16-17).  The more you study this Book, the more you will see the incredible beauty of a master crafter and teller of the human story drawing you deeply into its pages to reveal to us the astoundingly complex majesty of our Creator God, how we reflect His image, and how far we have fallen and are in need of His grace-filled redemption.  As a note, I use capitalization throughout my writings as a sign of respect to God, though I recognize I do not need to use it but choose to do so.

Before coming to seminary, I worked for more than 15 years as a systems project manager in the financial industry, for such companies as HSBC, and held a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from 2002-2009.  Tom, my husband of more than 13 years, is a senior systems architect for a software company, so we speak the same language (usually)!  I grew up in the NW suburbs of Chicago, and still live in the Chicagoland area.

For the last 12 years I have been incredibly blessed to be a stay-at-home-mom to my 7th grade daughter and our 5-yr-old rescued dog (a 65-lb black lab/shepherd mix), and have also been volunteering extensively at her school and our church where Tom is an elder.

Though I have been a lifelong believer in Jesus (I was raised as a Roman Catholic), God used a formal Bible study in my presbyterian church on Luke in 2008 to get me to meet the real Jesus (God Himself as a human) on His terms through His Word, and has since been drawing me ever closer to Him. Though I do not yet know how He will use my masters degree (just obeying one class at a time and loving every second of it!), I sense it is to put all of my gifts and experiences to work to share the beauty of who God (our Father), Jesus (His Son) and His Holy Spirit is, and who we are made to be, with anyone who will listen.  Thank you for listening!  Let's be Bereans together! (Acts 17:11)

May God bless you as He has blessed me with this knowledge.
